Blessed Easter morning Church!
We remember today the great news that Jesus Christ is risen! Throughout the world Christians will be declaring from their homes ‘Alleluia’!
Never before have we needed to hear such a rallying cry than in these days. As I sat earlier today to have my morning prayers I could hear the birds in the garden singing their hearts out.
Maybe your neighbours will be blessed by your singing as I was by the birds this morning!
There are many radio and television programmes to join in with today and be blessed by, amongst these are the Archbishop of Canterbury who is presiding over a service from his kitchen, and this evening on youtube at 6pm a live streaming of Andrea Bocelli from the Duomo in MIlan… I know that many of you are being blessed by the different links and resources you are finding. Do keep checking our website and the Methodist Circuit website and Connexion.
Do not be afraid Saints and remember to keep safe and keep well… please show great love to one another and to our neighbours and friends by only going out when you need to, not taking un-necessary trips in your cars and remembering those for whom this Easter will be long, tiring and dangerous as they minister in our hospitals up and down the country… and we continue to hold in great love those who have lost family and friends at this time and those who are seriously ill again amongst our family and friends. Lord in your mercy hear our prayers for those we love.
Jesus paid the ultimate sacrifice in giving his life for us all and today we celebrate the great gift of eternal life as he conquered death…
However you celebrate Easter today the message still rings true, we may miss friends and family and being in church but God will show us new ways to celebrate. Remember that first Easter morning everyone was afraid and locked in their homes… the three women made their essential journey to the tomb to anoint his body and there they met the gardener… or so they thought!! What an amazing beginning to their first Easter day!
Blessings to all x
Easter Sunday, 2020
1 Thine be the glory, risen, conqu'ring Son:
endless is the vict'ry thou o’er death hast won;
angels in bright raiment rolled the stone away,
kept the folded grave-clothes where thy body lay.
Thine be the glory, risen, conqu'ring Son;
endless is the vict'ry thou o’er death hast won.
2 Lo! Jesus meets us, risen from the tomb;
lovingly he greets us, scatters fear and gloom;
let the church with gladness, hymns of triumph sing,
for her Lord now liveth, death hath lost its sting. [Refrain]
3 No more we doubt thee, glorious Prince of life;
life is naught without thee: aid us in our strife;
make us more than conqu'rors, thro' thy deathless love:
bring us safe thro' Jordan to thy home above. [Refrain]
